Five Tips for Fishing for Walleye in Early Spring

There are some fishermen that will still use pitch crank baits especially in shallow waters and when the temperature of the water drops a bit. The fishermen that fish for walleye during the spring months usually tend to have more luck when they are fishing from a boat that is reasonably far from the shore, but the casts have to be done as far as possible.

The long casted lines will help to result in even more fish being caught. The negative fish will very often follow crank bait for a long time before even biting.

Whilst the water temperature is dropping, this often coincides with the water that is cloudy due to the wave turbulence. The long baits that are wobbling are easy to locate profiles for and these are often more effective. The fish are best caught with plenty of pauses as you take the lure back to the boat.

The crank bait is best for fishing for walleye and this is also very good when fishing for perch. If there is too much of a dramatic change within the weather the fish may seem to move out of the shallow areas and this will assist fishermen to locate and catch the walleye. The spots and the patterns of the walleye will emerge early if the weather is good enough.

Rather than fishing where the fish should actually be during the spring months, it may be a good idea to fish within the shallow water pattern. It is a good idea to fish in the mid depth structure pattern where fishing would normally be done during the early summer months. When the weather is a bit strange the fish may start to pile up, and some of the patterns may not feel right until you actually start to catch the fish.

The mid lake patterns are often on the minds of the fishermen whilst fishing for walleye during the spring months. It is very important for fishermen not to be afraid to try fishing out of season.
