5 Walleye Fishing Tactics That Really Work

The Right Technique

After finding the right location, choosing the best time to fish and obtaining the right equipment you need to improve your technique. Walleye fishing is considered a skill that can be learned with practice. You must always keep the line tight if you want to catch a walleye. They are very delicate when they bite and if the line is not tight, you will not feel the strike and you will miss that opportunity. Therefore, the number one rule is to always keep your line tight.

One way to do this is by allowing your boat to drift with the current while lowering your jig to the bottom, then start working your lure a few inches at a time. If you are using a boat with a motor you can control your movement more and keep your line at an angle, which will help to slow your pace in windy conditions and allow you to have better control of the lure. It will also allow you to fish in the depths where more walleye are located

Try using different tactics to find the right combination that works best for you. If something is not working then change and try something different. There is no reason why you can’t experiment a little. Given time and patients you will discover the tactics that help you become the angler you always dreamed of.
