Five Tips River Fishing for Walleye

When fishing for walleye on the river it is very important to pay close attention to the fishing presentations. Most of the presentations will be fairly straightforward. The walleye will either see the crank bait or the fish will notice the crawler harness. When the fishermen use the crawler harness the aim is to allow enough of the work at the bottom of the hook for it to wiggle.

Another important thing that needs to be considered when river fishing for walleye is the locations that is best to fish in. In the western part of the United States of America one of the best places to fish is the Columbia River.

When you are fishing in an area that you have never fished before it is a very good idea to get a map of the river and to mark some of the best places to fish prior to going out onto the river.  When you first go onto the river spend a bit of time watching the other boats, as this will help you to determine where the best spots are for fishing within the river. It will not take long to determine what the boats are fishing for. It is very important to pay attention to the walleye fishermen. This is not for presentation sake but instead it is for location of the best fishing areas.

The hot spots for walleye fishing will change from year to year, and what was the hot spot one year will more than likely have no fish the following year.  It is important to pay attention to what other fishermen are doing on the river, as the best areas for fishing will on most occasions be populated by other fishermen. When you are fishing within a new area it may be possible to hire a fishing guide that is an experienced fisherman that makes money from teaching other people what they have themselves learnt over the years.

Every fisherman will have their favorite locations and fishing tips which will have been gathered over years of fishing and fun.
