Books on Fishing Rods and Other Information

I love to fish. I previously fished with my ex-boyfriend and relied on him to set up my line, tell me what bait to use and so on. Now I’m on my own and have no clue how to set up a line to jig, use spinners or crawler harnesses. I would love to be able to go out fishing again but need some assistance in how to set up my rod. Are there any books out there with illustrations on how to do this? Please help me!

There are two really good books I%u2019ve seen about the basics of fishing and how to work with new fishing rods. The first book is called %u201CThe Complete Book of Baits, Rigs and Tackle%u201D by Vic Dunaway. It%u2019s a small and simple book, and helps people in the craft of fishing, all aspects from rods to bait to tackle. It%u2019s a very reasonable price too for what you get. Expensive, yes, but there%u2019s plenty of information to make it worthwhile. This book talks about freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing and fly fishing, using both live baits and lures. The book also gives you instruction in how to use all sorts of different baits, like plastics, crankbaits, preserved bait and other things. Of course, all that requires a fishing rod, but The Complete Book of Baits gives you instruction is the use of all kinds of rods %u2013 202s to the rods you%u2019d use in the ocean. You use different rods in different areas to account for the climate and water conditions. The second book is called “The New Advanced Custom Rod Building”. It%u2019s very concise, well-written and informative about building a fishing rod. Even if you don%u2019t build one, you can take the principles of building and learn how to set up a rod in the way that%u2019s needed for your fishing location. This book is worthy of multiple reads and to be used as reference. The New Advanced Custom Rod Building is Dale Clemens%u2019 new best book. In it, he explains all the principles of building and handling fishing rods of all sorts, from rod/fly-fishing to offshore trolling rods. The rods are all explained, and after the written explanations there are detailed illustrations given as to how exactly to build said rods. Once you understand the principles of rod creation, you can alter fishing rods to suit your own design and particular types of bait.
