Dan I have read many answers to the walleye questions you have written (and have searched the net)but I haven’t found anything much on southern Ontario. My group have been fishing together for years and this year are considering a drive-in trip for walleye. We want the remoteness of a fly-in style location preferably with a cabin but we would consider camping. We live in Toronto and are willing to travel for an 8 hour radius although less than that would be better. Can you make some recommendations please?
I have heard that Vermilion Bay Lodge in Ontario is a great place to fish for walleye. The walleye fishing is great and the cabins look out over the lake. It is a scenic rustic view. There is fishing on Eagle Lake, with some trophy size fish being caught. You can stay in a cabin, but enjoy the outdoors with a campfire area and some canoeing and kayaking if you want to shake it up a bit. There are miles of shoreline and rigged forests around the lake. You can have the security of a cabin and feel as if you are out in the wilderness. If you want camping as part of your fishing trip, Shooting Star Camp by the Spanish River area is a great place to fishing for walleye. This is a remote camp that is surrounded by wilderness. You can take a train ride into the heart of the camp. This place also offers eco adventures if you are going green. The walleye fishing produces some nice sized walleyes and many catches has been trophy size. If you want a place that is totally remote, this is the place to camp and fish. You can plan a weekend, week or a few days during the week. The camp is for fishing and big game, so it is open during the fishing and hunting seasons. Either one of these places will provide you with some spectacular fishing. They should be close enough to you for traveling and having some good fishing.
