Yes, the weather has been funny this summer, especially over in that area. The best tip is to use vertical jigging. The walleye are there, it is just the temperatures and weather conditions have pushed them into a backwards spin. I have heard that many anglers are catching the walleye in shallower waters because of the temperatures of the water and air. These guys are using the vertical jigging method and having some good results. Of course, I have heard some are trolling around the underwater structures with luck. I would try both ways to see which is going to be the best. Try shallow waters for a while and gradually move out with a slow troll. Chances are good for catching a walleye this way. Use a nice size minnow because the walleye are hungry. The weather is going to be changing again and the fish are going to start going after the bigger minnows. I have also heard about anglers over there catching more than walleye. I would guess that all the species are having a hard time adjusting to the funny weather we have had. Sometimes it is just better to sit in a place where you know the walleye could be and wait. I know that sounds hard to do, but walleye are a fussy fish. Everything has to be just so and they have to be hungry. They should be biting up a storm right now because fall is coming quicker than we expected it to.
