Just make sure to use larger live baits because the fish are not going to be chasing small meals but are going to want one large one. They are going to be slowing down to conserve energy so one big meal is going to attract them more than a little snack can.
3. Use the Proper Lures – There are many lures that are marketed toward walleye fishing. Some of them are very productive and some are just a waste of money. It is important to use the right lure for the area that you are fishing.
When bottom fishing in the winter, use a bottom bouncer/walker to get the walleye interested in your bait. Any other type of walleye fishing is going to be productive by using a crankbait. Crankbaits come in a variety of styles and sizes so you may want to keep a few different ones in your tackle box. You may need to use a few different ones until you find the one that the walleye are going to hit. Keep in mind that each time you go out they may strike on a different style or size of crankbait lure.
4. Jigging – Jigging takes a good deal of skill but the one who is an accomplished person at jigging for walleye is going to land quite a few large ones.
