Dan, My brother and I are looking for a place to take our boys on a walleye/northern pike fishing excursion. A place where we can rent a cabing and a small boat for a few days, and actualy catch fish. Are you familiar with such a place? If you can give me a few ideas that would be great. Dont want to spend a ton of money though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Cincinnati, Oh. And my brother lives in Michigan. I have done the charter thing before, but would like to find a place that would allow us to fish when ever we felt like going out. Thanks.

Since one lives in Michigan and one lives in Ohio, why not meet at Fox Lake in Dodge County in Wisconsin. There is some fine walleye and northern pike fishing in this lake. The walleye minimum size limit for a keeper is eighteen inches and northern pike is thirty-two inches. Wisconsin is a great place to fish for walleye and northern pike. One will have to travel a little longer than the other does, but if you want to fish at your leisure and use your own boat or rent one, this is the lake to fish. There is plenty of comfortable lodging around the Fox Lake area. One in particular is by Beaver Dam. There are cabins and boat rentals in the area. The Beaver Dam area is a great area to stay. It is a quiet place with a small population. The lake is close by and you can enjoy some other interests that the kids might enjoy other than just fishing. You can find some fast food restaurants or sit down diners for meals. You will be very happy with fishing this area and you will catch the fish of choice. There are other areas in the state, but this one is the one that everyone seems to talk about when they are looking for both walleye and northern pike. Lake Winnebago is only walleye and the size limit is higher, but I want to give you a place for both fish with a lower size limit to keep the fish.
