Is walleye fishing on the Fox River and Lake Winnebego realy as good as I here?
Walleye fishing on Lake Winnebago is very good. In the month of July in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, which is on Lake Winnebago they have a weekend event called Walleye Fish Days. This event draws thousands of anglers who do some find fishing on the lake. It is a festive event than brings in some nice sized walleyes. The lake is connected to the Wolf River up in Green Bay by way of the Fox River. There are many trophy fish that come out of the Fox River, but they recommend a catch and release of the real big fishes because of the polluted water in the Fox River.
It is very possible to catch a thirty-inch walleye in the Fox River. In spring, the river is the earliest to open in the Green Bay area and has a great run of walleye at this time. During the summer months the Fox Rive and Lake Winnebago have a good deal of boat traffic as everyone heads out to do some walleye and muskie fishing. You can access Lake Winnebago from Fond du Lac, Stockbridge and over on the Oshkosh side as well for some great fishing holes.
On Lake Winnebago, you can catch and keep the fish unlike the Fox River. If the fish are smaller in size on the Fox River, you could keep the fish because it has not been in the water as long as the trophy fish. These are two very good places to do some great walleye fishing any time of the year.
