Lake Vermilion has over twelve hundred miles of shoreline that is mostly rocky. There are about three hundred and fifty islands scattered around throughout this lake that provides the prefect place to fish for walleye and other species. They will be around the island and in places where there is lots of vegetation.

It’s important to know that fishing season on this lake opens in May and ends in February so make sure you find out the exact dates before you head out to do some fishing. The worse time to go walleye fishing is in July but you can still entice them to strike if you present them with a good offering they can’t refuse. By the time fall rolls around, the water will begin to cool down and the walleye will become more active again.

Be sure and go over all of the rules and regulations that govern this lake to ensure that you know what they are. Lake Vermilion is an excellent place to catch walleye and you don’t want your fishing trip ruined because you broke some of the rules that you didn’t even know existed.
