Sir, I’d like to fish for walleye on the Sandusky but I have never been there before. Could you please give me some tips as to what area to fish and where the parking and access are. i prefer to avoid the big crowds as much as possible. any help is greatly appreciated. Chris

The area of Sandusky is very popular for walleye fishing and this is an excellent area for walleye fishing, regardless of whether you are looking for a vast number of catches or some trophy sized catches. There are a vast number of other types of fish that are also available within this area. One of the best areas within the area of Sandusky is on River Maumee. This area is very good for walleye. During the early part of March the walleye tend to swim up river from the area of Maumee Bay in order to spawn. During the early part of March the fishermen tend to harvest well over fifty thousand walleyes during this period of six weeks. The action within the river at this time can be very fast and furious and it can also give the fishermen hours of fun and enjoyment. There are a vast number of techniques that can be used whilst fishing for walleye; however, the presentation of the bait is very important as this will be a factor in whether or not you get a catch. A rigged minnow or a real worm will more than likely result in a catch, as they are very good. The gang hook type of bait will allow the angler to present the bait to the fish in a pretty natural way, and within these rivers the walleye are more likely to go for a natural type of bait or lure. Lake Erie is the tenth biggest lake within the whole world; however, it is probably the smallest in terms of volume.
