What are the differences between Walleye and Northern Pike, if any?

Some people say Walleye are just Northern Pike…is that true?

Walleye and northern pike are as different as a perch and a trout. The only similarities people might mention are that the northern pike tastes as good as the walleye. The northern pike will eat the walleye as well as whitefish and chubs. A northern pike will attack almost anything you throw in the water, although a lure such as the daredevils in white and red or the yellow five of diamonds does work well for catching the northern. If any fish is similar to the northern, it is the muskie. The walleye are going to go for minnows, leeches or night crawlers as well as jigging spoons such as the Rapala. The walleye move around to different areas of rivers and lakes depending on the time of year and the time of day. A northern just sits and waits for its prey to come to it the same as a muskie. The only similarity between the two fish is that they both have some strong and powerful teeth. They have different coloring and different markings. The fishes that similar to the walleye are the sauger and suageye. If you are fishing for a walleye, chances are, you are not going to catch a northern pike. The northern pike likes their prey as big as two pounds, where a nice size minnow will attract the walleye without a doubt. If you look at the two fish, you see the difference between the walleye and the northern. Look at the teeth and you might be confused, but the color and characteristics are different.
