What steps would you take to find good guided walleye fishing? I want to make sure to get the best service for me.
The first thing I would do is select the area that I want to visit. I would do this by checking which the hot places to fish for walleye are. Then I would look for a reputable service. I would judge them by the waters they fish, the services they provide and the cost. Then I would consider the amount of success they have with catching the walleye. You can check their website to see photos or testimonials or ask them if they have any satisfied customers that you can talk to. You might even check some of the local bait shops to see if they could recommend the fishing guide. I have not seen to many guide services that do not have a good reputation. I do check out the ones that are close to known walleye producing lakes or rivers. If you are going to an area for the first time, you might want to check the local fishing report, which in some cases, come from some of the reputable guide services. If you want to find the best, you are going to go to states such as Minnesota, Wisconsin or Michigan. South Dakota does have some great guides as well. If you are looking for close accommodations, you can find the outfitters that have lodging and fishing all included. Most of these are rated for the accommodations, fishing and other facilities. It will be fun, I will say for sure. The guides make the day enjoyable and teach you some tricks that they know.
